Mary Vistica was born and lived her entire life in New York City. A native New Yorker, she did not drive nor even own a car, but enjoyed walking her beloved streets of New York City the best. Her parents emigrated from Croatia, and she enjoyed speaking and reading the Crotian language. Mary attended the Croatian church in Manhatten and attended mass almost daily.
An avid reader her entire life, she could often be found at the New York Public Library or doing and completing the daily crossword puzzle in the New York Times. She also enjoyed spending summers on Fire Island as well as the Jersey Shore.
Mary was a well organized professional Executive Assistant at many leading companies, including CBS, Revlon and the United Nations. However, it was the twenty years at the end of her career working for the Schubert Organization that many remember fondly, as she was instrumental in obtaining the best seats in the house for many well known Broadway plays.
Recognized for being ahead of her time as a firm believer in women’s causes, she enjoyed the political scene and always offered thoughtful responses to pressing issues of the day. Mary enjoyed dancing and music her entire life, and upon entering her apartment you could usually hear Frank Sinatra playing on the radio.
She leaves behind her loving sister Lucille, and many nephew and nieces who she always generously remembered throughout their lives.
